SOMETHING TO HOOT ABOUT: 14

JESSIE WARE - "WILDEST MOMENTS"

The effervescent Jessie Ware is another candidate to enter the thriving female fronted music scene in the UK joining the likes of Florence Welsh and Ellie Jackson. Standing out is always going to be a daunting challenge but the London lady has extensive knowledge of producing crystalline pop fixes, possessing an untarnished vocal prowess that many strive to ascertain. Brixton born Jessie has a professional head on her shoulders; as well as being a supremely brilliant newcomer to the pop arena, she has previously filtered through Rinse FM's airwaves, was best school mates with Jack Penate and has been vocally compared to Aaliyah by SBTRKT. Having such a diverse background has finally allowed Ware's career to come into fruition, embellishing her work with dexterous malleability and towering vocals displays. Having a sound like a luxurious hybrid of Adele's rousing vocals meets Clare Maguire's mellow purrs means the singer has the best of both.

"Wildest Moments" is a defiant and emotive culmination as a continually bullish drum beat threads the song's various elements into a beautiful aural patchwork. Constructing a song with minimal musical input provides a clinical base with which to manipulate; the simplistic recipe of repetitive drum chants supporting contrastingly light piano key strands imbues the song with a degree of tranquillity. Jessie also has the rare ability to write lyrics steeped in inner sincerity, fragile honesty and emotive transparency. Such openness makes "Wildest Moments" instantly beautiful and draws a listener in to witness the harmonious musical thoroughfare at a tentative distance. With cooperative allegiance, Ware's lyrics and vocal power mirror her determined character and subtly assured confidence from start to end, providing a taster of what exciting things are yet to come.

Check out the music video below for "Wildest Moments" then follow Jessie via Facebook and Twitter and remember to pick up a copy of her debut album "Devotion" set for an August release.

SOMETHING TO HOOT ABOUT: 13

A*M*E FT MC RIGHTEOUS - "FIND A BOY" (EXTENDED MIX)

South-East London singer A*M*E is set for big things. The feisty artist who cites Aretha Franklin and Kylie Minogue as influences is quickly cementing a reputation as an artist with chameleon qualities; her professional attitude, fiery ambition and gusto outlook mean slowly but surely, the A*M*E way of making music is becoming increasingly recognised and appealing. The youthful persona of this urban lady is starting to draw some serious attention as her dexterous pop masterpieces reveal an electric mix of pop bravado, sassy R'n'B and intrepid experimentalism. "City Lights" and "Ride Or Die" have already served as tantalising snippets of the talent and genius that is to come from the capital's "next big thing".

A*M*E's latest venture offers another interesting dimension to her musical character; teaming up with the supremely gifted MC Righteous has allowed the young woman with talent to tip-toe into the Zeitgeist fields of dance and house music. Composing something that has to stand out above the majority in what can only be termed as saturated renaissance genres is a tall order when acts such as Calvin Harris and David Guetta monopolise the sector to the extreme. However it would appear A*M*E has defied such a trap. "Find A Boy" is an overwhelming onslaught of thunderous beats, repetitive house-savvy whirs and rotating bass manoeuvres. Working in dynamic equilibrium, each key sound funnels into a continuous mantra-esque loop that is infectious, enticing and most importantly fresh. Glazed synth shards jab at the senses leading to each chorus crescendo tumbling forth with energy and pulsating menace. A*M*E's vocals humanise the song sufficiently to make this a great clubbing track for the socialising masses and MC Righteous provides enough urban flavour to make this track truly different and an eagerly received dance number. Keep a beady eye out for A*M*E, she is destined for great things and deservedly so.

TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS - "TAPES AND MONEY"

This song from Orlando Higginbottom, the superfluous extraordinaire of all things electronic who works under the abridged moniker of TEED, was released earlier in the year before the launch of the debut album "Trouble" in June. TEED has garnered quite a following over the past twelve months by touring the circuit and performing like there is no tomorrow, releasing several tracks of shadowy night time electro-pop and receiving excellent plaudits from Annie Mac to Nick Grimshaw.

Today of all days is a day for listening to "Tapes And Money" as the British summer finally makes its presence felt casting the UK in feel good warmth. This track serves as the perfect accompaniment to such enriching weather. With a backdrop of buzzing switchboard style synthesising this track infiltrates any room with quirky noise landscapes and menacing choral mosaics that shimmer amongst dusky beats and trickling pools of obsidian electronica. This song is expertly crafted from start to finish with an indirectly devious fa├žade, appearing simplistic at first but upon further listening it begins to carve out an intricate fretwork of differentiating musical elements. Flickering back beats and hazy synth pools give "Tapes And Money" an aural geometric depth that is impressively sturdy and showcases the producer's innate ability to splice together computational sounds into something orchestrated and profound; a seamless metallic continuum. Perfect for a summer spent on the beach.

Check out "Tapes And Money" then show TEED some love by following him on Twitter and "liking" the Facebook group or better still buy the amazing "Trouble".

ANDREAS MOE - "COLLECTING SUNLIGHT"

It is perhaps no surprise in the slightest that this music blog has a long standing affinity for all things Swedish, even more so when it involves music. The nation that gave us Volvo, Ikea and the delicious meatball has also produced a wealth of supremely talented artists from Robyn to Abba. Andreas Moe is certainly a bright little star worth keeping an eye out for. Born in Stockholm, Moe is a gifted producer, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has been influenced by artists ranging from Michael Jackson to Jeff Buckley; his hefty music background involves work with the incredible Avicii, Made In Chelsea's Caggie Dunlop and Swedish DJ John De Sohn with future collaborations alongside Fedde Le Grand and Tiesto in the pipeline.

Focusing on Moe's latest release sees the audio maestro cast aside his more upbeat work in favour of a striped down pop number that gently acknowledges both his excellent musical compositions and transcendent genre amalgams. "Collecting Sunlight" is a feathery acoustic jaunt that wisps together satin key collectives and minimalistic electro skylines of bleeps and oscillating warps. Andreas has a beautiful voice; pure, sincere and perfectly married to his inner emotions; converting intangible feelings into something very real, honest and to which a listener can easily associate with. The intimacy of Moe's pitch perfect vocals gives this latest track a light, refreshing vibe as the choral build up injects enough auditory drive to keep ears hooked and suitably sated; the contemporary musical arrangements work with a gilded finesse that places this Swedish newcomer head and shoulders above the majority.

Check out the cute little music video below then show this awesome Swede some love via his Facebook and Twitter links underneath or buy his EP online.

SOMETHING TO HOOT ABOUT: 10

SMITH AND THELL - "SUPER DJ"

Mary Jane Smith and Victor Alexander Thell are back with yet another seamless piece of contemporary scandi-pop in the form of new single "Super DJ". The Swedish duo once again manage to produce a diligent array of slender beats, thumping dance tendencies and sublime pop hooks. With such finely sculpted pieces of mature pop like "Kill It With Love" already nestled in the growing back catalogue the masterful duo are ramping up the pressure to produce hit after hit and their latest sizzler doesn't disappoint.

Possessing a heady synthesised landscape "Super DJ" takes you on an intriguing ride of cosmic beats and sultry rhythms; Smith's modern and computerised vocals dehumanise the track and force it to become robotic, efficient and above all compliant, as musical elements collide into a neon hue strobe of unrelenting Swedish pop that is both brutally icy and ultra cool. This latest offering is very reminiscent of Hyper Crush's work, albeit toned down, understated and more effortless when it comes to eventual delivery. Smith and Thell have the right formulaic compositions to ensure their unique brand of pop continues to win over listeners and challenge mediocrity.

SOMETHING TO HOOT ABOUT: 9

ERIC SOLOMON - "GROUND CONTROL"

Eric Solomon was born and raised in Kinshasa until the age of 13 when civil war and unrest broke out. Seeking new pastures he moved to Montreal, Canada and decided to follow the path of music, generating his own sound, smoothing out a career in Canada and touring the local circuits. With supporting slots for Dragonette and remixes of The XX under his belt, the fast establishing Congolese-Canadian maestro is targeting UK shores with his sparkling array of electro glitter pop that will undoubtedly fill the void left by the likes of Sam Sparro, Adam Lambert or Mika.

"Ground Control" will immediately split opinion from the offset for Solomon has made the bold move to tamper with the original "Space Oddity" by the great David Bowie. Only vociferously loyal Bowie fans will disapprove of such meddling but to the collective majority, the song has been tweaked, reworked and edited into an Eric Solomon pop ditty full of fluxing electro sweeps, refracted computer bleeps and golden pop beats. Sieving out any musical impurities Eric's sound is crisp and contemporary, lassoing together perhaps rather sharp synth jabs and sanding them down into smooth works of complimentary audio art. "Ground Control" is a delightful slab of typically Canadian pop where uncluttered lyrics glide across contrastingly abrasive instrumental undertones to generate a neat equilibrium of beats, thuds and sugared synths.

Check out the music video below then show the Canadian some love via his Facebook and Twitter pages.

SOMETHING TO HOOT ABOUT: 8

FLORRIE - "SHOT YOU DOWN"

Florrie Arnold is one tenacious and driven individual judging by her relentless push through the proverbial bramble bushes they call the music industry. The ash blond pop vixen rides high after the relative success of her first EP titled "Introduction" in which Florrie deftly offered the slick collection of brazen pop numbers for free download, a bold and intelligent call. In combination with her elegant music videos, working for Nina Ricci and collaborating with the likes of Justin Faust it is perhaps no surprise that this bedazzling Bristol gem is back with new material, a new "Experiments" EP and up-and-coming projects with Dolce and Gabbana. Having so much in the pipeline proves the young lady is intrepid; cementing her image with a strong persona, fiery musical passion and bullish determination.

Owl By Night has a strong love for Florrie. Her music is crisp, finely orchestrated and the perfect hybrid of old meets contemporary; likening the young siren in the first post to Little Boots, Uffie and Sky Ferreira. These days it is a vastly different story with the power of hindsight. The ever establishing Florrie is an artist in her own right who imbues such talent and compositional prowess that it defines a new sub category of pop altogether; something that transcends both retro brass swing pop, eighties niche bubble-scapes of pink lipstick and neon frizz and couture electro-pop of the late noughties where synthesising met layered keys with fantastic audio chemistry.

"Shot You Down" is Florrie's latest release that perfectly sews together all the aforementioned into something very real and very captivating. The initial introduction effervesces with repetitive lyrical menace whilst simmering along with growing agitation as Florrie's sure footed drum beats stamp defiant feminine power across interweaving instrumental layers. The culmination of sound loops over continuously into the chorus which is full of typical pop hooks and sassy beats that holds just the right amount of gusto to pack weight into the final deliverance. With territorial synth aggression Florrie scissors her monochrome sound portrait with angular procrastination and faceted wonderment as beams of brilliant white pop slip meticulously between metallic electro shards and blackened emotive lyrics. "Shot You Down" gently experiments with these elements to generate a pristine and linear musical collective; the perfect modernistic pop recipe developed by the perfect pop starlet.
